Elite girls win state championship

The United Futbol Academy’94 Elite team took home the State Cup Championship title for the second year in a row.

The team has made an unprecedented seven trips to the finals of State Cup over the years, winning it four times. 

UFA ’94 Elite easily defeated Concorde Fire South White (8-0), Georgia Rush Nike Premier 93/94 (8-0), and Atlanta Fire United Elite (10-2) in round robin play.  In the semifinal game the girls defeated WGFC United 94 Elite (2-1), sending them to the final round.

This year’s State Cup victory included defeating their cross-town rival, NASA 12 Elite II, for a second year in a row.  In a hard fought game that went into overtime to decide the winner, the UFA girls prevailed by a score of 2-1.

With the State Cup win, the UFA girls will once again represent Georgia, in the Southeastern Regional Tournament, to be held in Greenville, S.C. from June 14-21. Of the 18-member squad, 17 will continue their soccer careers in college.
