Dawsonville native Chase Elliot finished fourth at the Auto Club 400 in Fontana, California on Sunday, March 1.
Elliot and the number 9 Napa Auto Parts car started in the 13th position and finished just behind Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, and Alex Bowman, winner of the Auto Club 400.
The fourth-place finish was Elliot’s best of the season so far and sets him in sixth place on the Nascar Cup Series Standings.
This comes after Elliot accepted a $100,000 challenge to try to defeat fellow driver Kyle Busch in the Nascar Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Georgia 200. Kevin Harvick posted the challenge on his twitter page for $50,000 and businessman Marcus Lemonis matched it saying that nobody could beat Busch in a truck.
The Outdoors Truck race will happen at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 14 at 1:30 p.m. The Fold of Honor QuikTrip 500 will follow on Sunday at 2 p.m.
