The Dawson County High School boys' golf team advanced to the state playoffs with their fourth place finish during the area tournament last week.

The team had a score of 336 on May 8 at Cateechee Golf Club in Hart County.

"I am very proud of our team and their perseverance," said Coach Frank Brown. "They have fought hard all year to get better and qualify for state playoffs."

Junior Jeremiah Crumley led the team with his 75.

Senior golfer Hunter Burt carded an 84 and Campbell Reed turned in an 88. Jackson Verhoven had an 89.

DCHS is one of 10 schools in Class AAA to meet the qualifying score of 340.

"They are a great group of young men and will represent Dawson County well at state," Brown said.

The state playoffs will be held May 22-23 in Blackshear.
