The gymnasiums at Rock Creek Park were once again swarming with avid basketball players during last week's Fun-damental Basketball Camp.

Coach Jonathan Tinsley along with Coaches Tina Brown and Nichole Green spent their mornings working with boys ages 7-14 to drive home the fundamentals in a sport they all love--basketball.

Twenty-five kids showed up to get training through a program that has been teaching youngsters for over 20 years.

"It is a lot of fun for all skill levels and fundamentals are important to all players," said Tinsley.

The three coaches give players a chance to play games and compete with their friends, all to help improve their skill level.

"I enjoy working with the kids and teaching them fundamentals and watching them grow," Tinsley said.

For the players, the best part is the one-on-one instruction as well as a chance to play games, according to TInsley.

The camp ran Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until noon and culminated with a number of competitions. Winners were awarded in several categories.

Lane Tinsley and Ethan Smith won in the Hot Shot contest.

In the One-on-One Bailey Swafford and Ethan Smith took top honors.

In free throws, Lane Tinsley and Smith won with 28 and 31 respectively.

The best camper awards went to Jack Ledbetter and Cole Palmer.
