Former Dawson County baseball standout, Kasey Wilson, will host a camp for boys ages 8-12 June 22 and 23. The camp will be held at Veterans Memorial Park, Hwy. 9 North, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily.

Campers will break for lunch from 11 a.m. to noon. Pizza will be provided or campers can bring their own lunches.

The camp will stress the fundamentals of the game, as well as speak to each camper about the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork and schoolwork. All campers will be grouped by age and ability. Each participant will receive a T-shirt.

Day one of the camp will teach students new fundamentals in stretching, running, throwing, batting, pitching, catching, fielding and base running.

Day two will be a review of each of these fundamentals.

The campers will then be divided to play simulated games.

Wilson will be camp director. Wilson played at Middle Georgia College and Southern Poly Tech before being drafted in the pros. He played for several professional teams, including the Macon Peaches, San Angelo Colts, Jackson Senators and Windy City Thunderbolts.

Helping Wilson will be former Atlanta Brave pitcher Terrell Wade. Wade was a member of the 1995 championship team.

He was with the Braves from 1995-1997 before going to Tampa Bay.

Former Southern Union Junior College players Lance Culpepper and Brad Smith will also teach during the two-day session.

Cost for the camp is $125.
