Winnie C. Smith, 75, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 13, 2017.

Born Aug.18, 1942 to the late Joseph T. and Lourain L. Chumley, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. 

Winnie was formerly employed at Sweet-Orr and Hasco, after which she worked for the Dawson County School System for almost 20 years until her retirement.  She enjoyed flowers, gardening and was of the Baptist faith. 

Her husband, Ralph P. Smith; sisters, Dorothy Gentry, Gladys O’Bryant, Bonnie L. Thurmond; and brothers, Olin Chumley and Grover Chumley, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sisters, Beulah Thacker of Cleveland, Lois Keller of Stockbridge; numerous nieces, nephews; various other relatives also survive.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 15 at Dawsonville Memorial Gardens with Rev. Lucas Ray officiating.

The family received friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 14 at the funeral home.

Bearden Funeral Home in Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
