William Winston "Wink" Anderson, 89, of Dawsonville and Decatur, died May 17, 2017.

Wink was born Sept. 26, 1927 in Lumpkin County to the late Price and Estelle Crawford Anderson.

He retired from Ford Motor Company after 34 years of service and was a 69 year member of UAW Local 882.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the Pacific Theater, he was of the Baptist faith and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Maurice Anderson, David Anderson; and sisters, Merle Russell and Mildred Anderson.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years and eight months, Jackie Chambers Anderson of Dawsonville and Decatur; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Joel Mayo of Hayesville, N.C.; son, Tim Anderson of Dawsonville; daughter, Teresa Anderson of Decatur; sister, Barbara Callaway of Hendersonville, N.C., Patsy Higgins of Dawsonville, Mazie Songer of Cumming; special nephew, Mike Russell of Dahlonega; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 20 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiating. Interment followed in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
