William R. Bill Chambers

William R. “Bill” Chambers, 84, of Lawrenceville, died Feb. 20, 2011.

 

Born Sept. 24, 1926 in Dawson County to the late Will and Pearl Chamber, he lived in Lilburn for 33 years before moving to Lawrenceville in 2000.

 

Mr. Chambers was employed for many years by Colonial Bread and delivered for Frito Lay for 20 years until his retirement. He then worked for Big Lots for more than 7 years.

 

Bill was a member of First Baptist Church of Lilburn.

 

His daughter, Donna Sue Chambers; sister, Monnie Lou Holladay; and brothers, Charlie Chambers and John Chambers, preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Billie Doris Chambers of Lawrenceville; children, Kathy Edwards, John P. Chambers, both of Lawrenceville, William R. “Dickie” Chambers Jr. of Commerce; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Winston Anderson of Decatur; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiating. Interment followed in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

 

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
