Wendell Bramblett Otwell, 99, of Cumming, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 in Athens, Ga. at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.

 

A native of Cumming, she was the daughter of the Velvie Little Tribble Bramblett and George Washington Bramblett.

 

Her husband of 54 years, Edwin C. Otwell; daughter, Dr. Jane Otwell Rhoden; brothers, Guy Weldon Bramblett, James Edwin Bramblett, Willis Frank Bramblett and sister, Gladys Bramblett preceded her in death.

 

Mrs. Otwell was a graduate of the Georgia Normal School and was a public school teacher in Forsyth County for many years.

 

She was a dedicated gardener and homemaker and was gifted in the art of making hand crafted gum paste flowers for wedding cakes and special occasions.

 

She was the oldest member of Cumming Baptist Church and had been a member there for most of her life.

 

Survivors include her brother, Thad Charles Bramblett of Cumming; son-in-law, D.C. Rhoden Elmore (Kevin) of Biloxi; sister-in-law, Sybil Bramblett of Athens; various other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Roark and Rev. Mark Wood officiating.

 

Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions were requested to be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home or Cumming Baptist Church.

 

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
