Wayne Grogan, 88, of Dawsonville, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009.
A lifelong resident of Dawson County, Mr. Grogan was a retired poultry farmer. For several years he served as Chief Appraiser for Dawson County and was employed by Wal-Mart well into his 80s, until he retired due to declining health.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and attended Winds of Peace Church.
His parents, Herman and Monnie Grogan; grandson, Jeff Grogan; sisters, Loretta Stowers, Geneva Gilleland; brother, Hubert Grogan, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Christine Grogan of Dawsonville; children, James and Carol Grogan of Dawsonville, Rita and Harold Garland of Toccoa; sister and brother-in-law, Edwina and Sherman Wallace of Dalton; brothers and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Charlotte Grogan of Gainesville, Bronson Grogan of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Andrew and Erin Grogan, Matthew and Jennifer Grogan, Brandon Cain, Sara Grogan, Chris Disharoon, Ryan Disharoon, Gregg Garland; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Tommy Panter and David Smith officiating.
Interment followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
