Warthen Buddy Williford

Warthen "Buddy" Williford, 86, of Dahlonega, died July 18, 2012.

Born Nov. 6, 1925, in Jefferson County to the late Wiley and Lonie Williford, he moved to Dawsonville from DeKalb County in 1979 and moved to Dahlonega five years ago.

For 25 years he was a truck driver for Triton, after which he drove for Leon Jones until his retirement. Affectionately known as "Poppy," Mr. Williford possessed a great love for his family and friends.

He was a member of the Dahlonega Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Margaret Williford; and great-grandson, Damion Kunz, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Dave Shumard of Lawrenceville, Kay and Will Dunne of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Stacy Henrie, Joshua Dunne, O'Ryan Dunne; seven great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. July 22 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Dahlonega Ward, with the Bishop Robert Weischedel officiating. Interment followed in the Antioch Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to offset final expenses.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
