Wallace L. Crowder, 74, of Dawsonville, died Nov. 14, 2012.

Born May 9, 1938, in Marietta, Ga., to the late James "Jim" and Elsie Crowder, he had lived in Dawson County since 1974.

Mr. Crowder owned Crowder Sign Company, which he operated until his retirement in 1996.

After moving to Dawson County he was active in parks and recreation baseball and the booster club.

His interests included woodworking and doing mission work.

He attended the First Baptist Church of Jasper.

His brothers, Richard Crowder, Jerry Crowder and Buddy Crowder, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joyce Crowder of Dawsonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Carol Crowder of Gainesville, Stephen and Tammy Crowder of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Hannah and Chris Weigel, Cody Crowder, Courtney Crowder; sisters, June Farmer of San Antonio, Texas, Carolyn Hall of Biloxi, Miss.; brother, Billy Crowder of Marietta; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at noon Nov. 16 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hinton Harris officiating. Interment followed in the Amicalola Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
