Vonell Edmondson Chastain, 71, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 20, 2011.

Born Sept. 13, 1940 to the late Vergil and Mary Edmondson, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Her husband, James E. "Jim" Chastain, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Stanley Allen of Marble Hill; sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Chastain, Ricky and Tabatha Chastain, all of Dawsonville, Freddie Chastain of Marble Hill; sisters and brothers-in-law, Yvonne and Preston Sanders of Dawsonville, Brondell and Len Arnold of Canton; grandchildren, David Chastain, Scott Chastain, Rhonda Chastain, Ashley Albano, Emma Allen, Morgan Chastain; great-grandchildren, Gracee Chastain, Blake Chastain, Ryker Day, Camden Chastain; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jason Hamby, Russell Burt and Hugh Fields officiating. Interment followed in the Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
