Virgil M. Hampton

Virgil M. Hampton, 84, of Dawsonville, died Nov. 30, 2010.

 

Born April 2, 1926 to the late Fredy and Ola Mae Hampton, he lived most of his life in Dawson County.

 

Mr. Hampton was a retired poultry farmer and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

 

His son, Larry Hampton; sister, Wilma Mills; and a brother, Vernon Hampton, preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Claudine Hampton of Dawsonville; children, Margaret and Ken Korab, Glen Hampton, Donald Hampton, all of Dawsonville, Mildred Emerson of Gainesville, Fran and Michael Harben of Woodstock; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Dec. 2 at Bearden Funeral home Chapel with the Revs. Leonard W. Ridings, Larmon Barron, Doug Delong and the Pastor Ricky Stepp officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
