Velvie C. Kirby, 79, of Cumming, died Dec. 4, 2012.

She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, J.C. Kirby of Cumming; children, Clifton and Amy Kirby, Ronnie Kirby, Nancy and Eugene Langston, Larry and Janice Kirby, Dorothy and Eddie Chester, all of Cumming, Fred and Virginia Kirby of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Amanda Kirby, Shelby and Blake Bennett, Jonathan Kirby, Kevin Kirby, James Chester, Carter Kirby; soon to be great-grandson, Nolan Bennett; step-grandchildren, Patrick, Chris and Kevin Langston; four step-great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 7 at New Harmony Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Purcell, James McGaha and James Samples officiating. Interment followed at New Harmony Baptist Church.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
