Vaudell Carter Sosebee, 93, of Dawsonville, died Sept. 6, 2018.

Born Nov. 3, 1924 to the late Floyd and Ida Carter, she was born and raised in Dawson County.  She lived in Atlanta many years before returning to Dawson County in the late 1960s.  A homemaker at her death, during WW II she was employed by Bell Bomber after which she worked for Western Union for 28 years.  Since its opening, she served as a tireless volunteer at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and she truly loved her racing family.  Vaudell was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Gober Sosebee; infant sons, Michael Gober Sosebee, Carter Monroe Sosebee; brothers, Will Carter, Fred Carter, Frank Carter, L. C. “Spud” Carter, Lloyd Carter and Albert Carter, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, David and Sarah Lamb Sosebee of Dahlonega, Brian Sosebee of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Kayla, Luke, Bacardy, Malachi; great-grandchildren, Emerson, Bentley; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 9, 2018 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Sanders and Rev. Eddie Herring officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sept. 8 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, P. O. Box 1561, Dawsonville, Ga. 30534.
