Tommy "T-Mac" McCormick, 64, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 25, 2016.

Born Aug. 31, 1952 in Jacksonville, Fla., to the late Robert and Catherine McCormick, he had lived in Dawson County since 1975, having moved from Jonesboro.

Tommy worked as a building contractor.

An accomplished guitarist, he spent much of his time playing music. He enjoyed fishing and was an extremely devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Elaine McCormick of Dawsonville; daughters and son-in-law, Tracy and Shane Sheriff, April McCormick, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Cory and Samantha Sheriff, Ian Sheriff, Blake Sanford, Miley Sanford; great-grandsons, Brayden Sheriff, Conor Sheriff; sister, Carol Marlowe of Greensboro, N.C.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Mary Elezenrath of Jonesboro, Mike and Mackie McCormick of Conyers; various other relatives also survive.

A celebration of Tommy's life was held at 2 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Ricky Stepp officiating.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
