Tommie E. Johnson, 78, of Dawsonville, died Sept. 5, 2011.
Born Aug. 21, 1933 in Broward County, N.C., to the late J.P. and Nola Johnson, he had lived in Dawson County since 1973, having moved from Ball Ground.
Mr. Johnson was employed by Cowart Brothers Lumber Company for 30 years, and loved fishing and playing guitar. He was of the Baptist faith.
His wife of 34 years, Jane Johnson, preceded him in death.
Mr. Johnson was born into a family of 18 children and was also preceded in death by several sisters and brothers.
Survivors include his children, Linda and Dwight Tatum, Debbie Bearden, Gail Evans, Greg and Tami Johnson, all of Dawsonville, Mike Johnson and Donna Cross, both of Murphy, N.C.; sisters, Margaret Stone, Jean Childers, both of Jasper, Pat Denny of Ball Ground; brothers and sister-in-law, Bob and Patsy Johnson of Ball Ground, Emory "Lucky" Johnson of Waleska; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 7 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Chester, Darren Johnson and Ronnie Sosebee officiating. Interment will follow in the New Life Church of God Cemetery.
