Thomas J. Davis, 78, of Dahlonega, died Nov. 20, 2010.

 

Born in Bacon County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Rena Mae Davis.

 

Mr. Davis had lived in Dahlonega for the last five years, and was a resident of Cumming for more than 40 years.

 

He was a member of Settin Down Baptist Church in Cumming. He loved bluegrass and gospel music. He was a craftsman and loved using his hands. He was a great cook.

 

He loved his family, friends and his church.

 

Survivors include his wife, Merline Davis; sons, Larry (B.G.) Davis of Dawsonville, Gary (Retha) Davis of Powder Springs; daughters, Brenda (Ray) Pugh of Dallas, Ga., Glenda (Scottie) Pope, Peggy (Lamar) Allen, all of Dahlonega; sisters, Lattressa Halstead, Retha Brister of Alma; brothers, Jack Davis of Alma, Robert Davis of Alpharetta; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Nov. 22 in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home in Dahlonega with the Rev. Tony Estes of Settin Down Church officiating.

 

Dahlonega Funeral Home of Dahlonega was in charge of the arrangements.
