T. G. "Gunny" Moore, 71, of Dawsonville died Feb. 15, 2014.

Born December 2, 1942 in Knoxville, Tenn. to the late Tom and Polly Moore, he lived in Dawson County for the past 14 years having moved from Norcross.

Mr. Moore retired from the DeKalb County Police Department after 23 years of service after which he was employed by the Dawson County Sheriff's Office for 6 years.

Gunny served 21 years in the U. S. Armed Forces with the U. S. Marine Corps and the U. S. Air Force. He served three tours in Viet Nam. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, was an avid gun collector, was a charter member and past president of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 970, and was a member of Etowah Lodge # 222 F & AM.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Linda Moore of Dawsonville; son, Patrick (Ashley) Moore of Watkinsville; daughter, Kelly Peterson of Decatur; three grandchildren; and cousin/brother, Kyle M. (Carol) Webb of Canton.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 22 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Donna Weaver will officiate.

The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
