Terry E. Thurmond, 66, of Dawsonville, died Sept. 16, 2016.

Born Sept. 23, 1949 to the late Leland and Christine Thurmond, Terry was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church and a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother. Terry worked hard and enjoyed life.

His son, Shane Thurmond, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Sybil Kent Thurmond; son, Leland Thurmond; grandchildren, Aly, Ashton and Chloe Thurmond; brothers and sister-in-law, Horace Thurmond, Robert and Joann Thurmond; sisters, Brenda Dean, Melissa O'Brien, all of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 19 at Mill Creek Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
