Sue Cates, 70, of Dahlonega, died Jan. 31, 2018.
Born Nov. 15, 1947 to the late Robert and Willie Grace Bales, she had been a resident of Dahlonega for the past 40 years coming from Alpharetta. Sue worked as a farmer alongside her husband for over 40 years. She enjoyed traveling and had visited every state in the U.S. and was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Her brother, Curtis Bales, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Charles Cates, Sr. of Dahlonega; sons and daughter-in-law, Charles Jr. and Lindsey Cates of Dahlonega, Tony Cates of Dahlonega; nieces, Gretchen Bales, Vickie Tarver, Michelle Bales, Selena Bales, Marriah Bales, Tatum Bales; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 2 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodney Pilcher officiating. Interment followed at 2 p.m. in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell.
The family received friends from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Feb. 1 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to help offset final expenses.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
