Obituaries

Sarah Elizabeth Grove, 95, of Dawsonville, died Nov. 8, 2017.

Born Jan. 5, 1922 in Calhoun, Ill. to the late Allen and Aileen Bunch, she lived most of her life in Illinois before moving to Kentucky and then to Dawson County in 2001.

In her early years Mrs. Grove was employed at Olney Shoe Factory. During WW II she moved to Long Beach, Calif. where she worked at Vultee Aircraft.  She then moved to Evansville, Ind. where she worked at Briggs & Straton making aircraft parts. While in Illinois she served as the church pianist, choir director and taught Sunday School at Dundas United Methodist Church. 

Mrs. Grove enjoyed life on a farm which included gardening, cooking, raising chickens, sewing, quilting and was very devoted to her family. After the death of her husband she spent five years volunteering at Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Ky. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Her husband of 42 years, Dolven Grove, and son-in-law, Jerry King, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Donna King of Dawsonville, Nancy and Ron Lanterman of Freeburg, Ill., Linda Haddon of Roswell; grandchildren, Patrick and Crystal Lanterman, Todd and Nikki Lanterman, Drew Haddon, Matthew Haddon, Rachel Haddon; great-grandchildren, Hailey Lanterman, Candence Lanterman, Miles Lanterman, Gavin Brown.

The family received friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Nov. 11 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Grove was then sent to Olney, Ill. for funeral services and interment in the Crest Haven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 100 Lumpkin Campground Road South, Dawsonville, Ga. 30534.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
