Sandra King Ward, 74, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 17, 2016.

Born Jan. 13, 1942 in Atlanta, she was the daughter of Ralph and Jesse Strickland King.

Sandy graduated from Murphy High School.

Sandy raised her two children in Lithonia. She worked in the construction design/consultation field and was an administrative assistant.

She had also worked at Chestatee Bank.

She loved her pets and nature, her family and her lake home in the Dawsonville community.

Sandy was a past chairwoman of the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce.

She also served as chair of the Dawson County Planning Committee.

Her beloved husband, Bob Ward, preceded her in death.

Survivors include, her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kim Ward; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Chris Andrews; four grandchildren, Zack Ward, Talbot Andrews, Walker Andrews, Daisy Ward; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Dr. Orin Sampson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dawson County Humane Society, www.dawsoncountyhumanesociety.org.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
