Sally Burt, 99, of Dawsonville died Aug. 28, 2014.

Born January 2, 1915 in Blairsville to the late John and Bethie Fortenberry, she lived most of her life in Dawson and Lumpkin counties.

For many years, Sally worked as an in home caregiver where she touched the hearts and lives of many. She also loved gardening and flowers. Mrs. Burt was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rob Burt; sons, Hayne Burt and Bobby Burt; daughter, Lillie Burt; and grandsons, Allen Burt and Danny Sheffield.

Surviving include her daughters and son in law, Floy Sheffield of Winder, Ruby and Eugene Crane of Duluth; sons and daughters in law, Jim Burt, Michael and Ellen Burt, all of Dawsonville; sister, Mildred Crane of Dawsonville; 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 2, 2014 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Ruel Martin and Harold Bottoms officiated. Interment followed in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home in Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
