Ruth Mathis Payne, 69, of Cumming, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009.

She was a member of Coal Mountain Baptist Church, a hardworking woman and a great mother.

Her husband, William Henry Payne; and father, Herbert Clayton Mathis, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her mother, Grace Mathis of Cumming; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Marie Evans of Dawsonville, Mitchell and Jennifer Payne, Marty and Shana Payne, all of Cumming; sisters and brother-in-law, Annie and Jake Mills of Cumming, Mary Mathis of Buford; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Sheila Mathis of Cumming; three grandchildren, Michael Williams Evans, Melanie Sahagun, Tayla Payne; great-grandchild, Arianna Sahagun; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12 in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Danny Bennett and Harold Evans officiating.

Interment followed in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
