Roy J. Foster, 74, of Dawsonville, died June 25, 2015.

Mr. Foster was born Jan. 25, 1941 to the late Willis and Flora Foster. He was raised in North Georgia and had been a resident of Dawsonville for the past 40 years.

A deacon at Antioch Baptist Church, he worked for a number of years as a custodian for the Dawson County School System, where he recently retired.

His wife, Mildred Hunter and a number of siblings preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Alinda and Nicholas Baggett, Wendy and Richard Sfeir, all of Dawsonville; son, Rodney Foster of Atlanta; sisters, Pauline Champe of Dahlonega, Thelma Davis of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Vickie Foster of Cleveland; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. June 27 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Stover officiating. Interment followed in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
