Roy Eugene Westray, 87, of Cumming, died Feb. 18, 2015.

He was born in Cumming and had lived there all his life.

Roy retired from Sawnee EMC in 1991 after 34 years of service.

Over the years, he received numerous recognitions and was inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010.

Roy was a faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church in Dawsonville.

His beloved parents, Johnny and Beulah-Freeman Westray; sisters, Flonnie Westray, Edna Westray-Jennings, Fern Westray-Howard; brothers, Jewell, Veston, Weldon Westray; and grandson, Abel M. Westray, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Jane Russell-Westray; daughters and sons-in-law, Frances Westray-Mooney and Ronald D. Mooney, Wanda Westray-Cook and Clyde Cook; son, Michael E. Westray and fiancé, Teresa Foster; grandchildren, Matthew, Mark and Terri Mundy, Lisa Cook, James and Tiffany Cook, Delton Cook and Colter Westray; great-grandchildren, Emma McClung, Thomas Westray; stepchildren, Sonya and Paul Ehlermann, Shane and Liza Mayfield; step-grandchildren, Jeremy and Elizabeth Cook, Steve and Emilie Mooney, Stacy and Amanda Mooney, Bradley and Kalin Benson and Ashton Mayfield; seven step-great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survives.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 20 in the Ingram Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Mark Magwood and Ken McGee officiating.

Interment followed in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Ingram Funeral Home of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
