Robert S. Bobby Shepard

Robert S. "Bobby" Shepard, 84, formerly of Big Canoe, died Nov. 24, 2015.

Born in Caile, Miss., he was the son of the late Robert Paul and Emma Estelle Windham Shepard.

His brothers, Ira W. Shepard and John L. Shepard; and sister, Lorene E. Shepard, also preceded him in death.

Bobby was a longtime wholesale auto and tractor parts dealer in the Mississippi Delta.

He owned his own business from 1962-1991.

Following retirement, he and his wife, Carrie, traveled every state in the United States, mostly in a series of RVs. They also traveled internationally.

Bobby lived in Sunflower County, Miss., until moving to Big Canoe in 1999.

He was an inveterate collector of "stuff" he might need.

He was active in church and community - planning and zoning in Indianola, church boards in Indianola, an active usher and ERT in Big Canoe.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie Nell Hughes Shepard of Roswell; children, Sam and Patti Farr Shepard of Cumming, Jim and Cathy Kien Shepard of Auburn, Ala., Donna and John Varn of Leesburg, Va.; grandchildren, Becky and Steve Carlin of Marietta, Patrick Shepard of Madison, Miss., Scott Shepard of Starkville, Miss., Melissa and Jim Keefer of Gainesville, Fla., Erin and Aaron Fahl of Marietta, Meghan and Brett Bawcum of Athens; great-grandchildren, Robert and Michael Carlin and Evie Bawcum; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Nov. 28 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment followed at Big Canoe Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to the United Methodist Children's Home in Decatur, www.umchildrenshome.org.

McDonald and Son Funeral Home of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
