Robert O. "Bob" Burnett, 86, of Dawsonville, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008 at his residence extended illness.

  

Born in Homosassa, Fla., he lived in Dawson County for the past 25 years having moved from Chicago, Ill.

  

Mr. Burnett was a carpenter in both residential and commercial construction, after which he worked for House of Doors until his retirement.

  

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II where he served in the European Theater and was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

  

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Virginia "Ginny" Burnett of Dawsonville; children, Robert Martin and Susan Burnett of Seminole, Fla., Richard Lee Burnett, Wand and Kirk Davis, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Bruce and Katherine McDowell, Jennifer and Jimmy McDowell, Bobby and Melanie McDowell, Bobby Burnett, Jeffery and Becca Burnett, Alex Burnett, Sara Burnett, Trevor Burnett; great-grandchildren, Kirk McDowell, Kaitlyn McDowell, Bruce McDowell, Noah Day, Preston Hart; various other relatives also survive.

  

A funeral mass was held Saturday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Rau, Msgr. Stephen Churchwell, Fr. Michael Onyekuru and Fr. Richard Morrow officiating.

  

Interment followed at Sawnee View Gardens.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
