Robert Lee Rice, 77, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 3, 2010.

  

Born July 13, 1933 to the late James Sanders and Velma Rice, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

  

Mr. Rice was a retired supervisor at Fieldale; he installed equipment in poultry processing plants throughout the United States and abroad.

  

He served as a deputy sheriff with the Dawson County Sheriff's Department in the late 1960s. He enjoyed his retirement, especially spending time on the farm.

  

His brothers, Johnny Rice, Frank Rice and Tommy Rice preceded him in death.

  

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Rice of Dawsonville; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and David Gee, Pam and Johnny Young, all of Dawsonville; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby Watts, Gracie Lou Walls, Annie Sue and Jimmy Chester, all of Dawsonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Evelyn Rice, Benny Joe and Carolyn Rice, Herman and Vondell Rice, Billy and Teresa Rice, all of Dawsonville; sister-in-law, Jo Wallace of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Cory Gee, Dustin and Kristen Gee, Kayla Gee, Tara and Tim Hamby, Kristen Young; great-granddaughters, Karley Hamby, Karson Hamby, Amelia Gee; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Leroy Blackwell, J.W. Day and Jimmy Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church Cemetery.
