Robert J. "Bob" Galasso, 77, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 26, 2013.

Born March 16, 1935, in Oyster Bay, N.Y., to the late Louis and Mildred Galasso, he had been a resident of Dawsonville for the past 19 years.

Mr. Galasso was a former vice president of sales for Allstate Power-Vac. After retirement he owned D.B.G. Custom Homes and worked as an electrician.

His sister, Nina Young, preceded him in death.

Family and friends will always carry his wisdom, humor and love in their hearts.

Bob was the biggest guy in the family, with a heart to match, he wouldn't hurt a fly. He was super strong and was an outstanding basketball player at St. Dominic's High School.

He was a lifeguard at Jones Beach, was a great electrician, carpenter, contractor, architect, builder, you name it. The truth of it is, he was a free-spirited individual that had an opinion on everything and could do it all as well.

Bob will be greatly missed.

Last, but not least, Bob loved horses and old western movies. "Happy trails to you, until we meet again."

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Galasso of Dawsonville; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Karla Galasso of Brentwood, N.Y.; devoted friends, Samantha and Sam Aiges of Sunshine Ranches, Fla., former daughter-in-law, Christine O'Neil of Boca Raton, Fla.; grandchildren, Bobby, Richie, Amanda, Vittoria and Zoey Galasso; various other relatives also survive.

A memorial mass was held at 11 a.m. Jan. 29 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church with the Father Brian Higgins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church Building Fund, 993 Kilough Church Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
