Robert G. "Slim" Denny, 75, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 19, 2015.

Born July 19, 1939 in Cherokee County, to the late Cecil Sr. and Mary Denny, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 30 years, having moved from Forsyth County.

For the past 12 years, Mr. Denny was employed by the Dawson County Board of Education as a custodian at Dawson County High School. He was formerly employed for many years in the Fulton County School System and had also worked as a plumber and a poultry farmer.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

His first wife, Louise Denny; daughter, Linda Faye Denny; granddaughter, Cassie Key; sisters, Sadie Mae Denny, Betty Joyce Rolland; and brothers, Charles Denny and Cecil Denny, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Denny of Dawsonville; children, Jimmy L. Denny, Sandra and Lonnie Goss, Ruth A. Nettles, Pam S. Revis, Robby Barrett, Matthew Barrett, all of Dawsonville, Bryan Revis of Texas, Ed and Mary Pugh of Winder, Randy Pugh of Buford; grandchildren, Amanda and Robby Payne, Jessica and Jason Wright, Jason and Brittany Goss, Christopher Key, Cory and Casey Key, Dakota Whittemore, Johnathan Pugh, Georgia Pugh; sister, Sara Lee Davis of Marietta; sister-in-law, Betty Denny of Marietta; seven great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 22 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Glenn Byrd, Mark Hassler and Jason Goss officiating. Interment followed in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the family for a memorial to be placed on the school grounds.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
