Richard A. "Obie" Oberleitner, 60, of Dawsonville died Aug. 1, 2014.

Born January 24, 1954 in Erie, Penn., he had lived in Dawson County for the past 10 years having moved from Buford.

Obie was a retired truck driver and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam era.

His wife Cheryl Oberleitner; son, Richard Oberleitner, Jr.; and brother, Pat Powers preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Dawn Waters of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Davidson Oberleitner, Harley Waters, Victoria Waters, Jason Waters, Jr., Samuel Oberleitner; sister, Cathy Treadway of Douglasville; brother, Terry Oberleitner; a number of other relatives also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Aug. 16, 2014 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Reeves officiating.

The family will receive friends beginning at 4 p.m.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville is in charge of the arrangements.
