Rev. Danny Hicks, 51, of Cumming, died Friday, June 26, 2009.

Danny was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church and a former Pastor of Buffington Baptist Church.

He was song leader at New Harmony, where he had been a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, vacation Bible school director, church camp director and choir director.

He was a gospel singer and loved singing.

He had coached youth softball and basketball.

His father, Everett Hicks, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Hicks of Cumming; daughters, Tanya and Tamara Hicks of Cumming; mother, Alice Mae Hicks of Free Home; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Mike Livingston of Free Home; niece, Courtney Sweatman and husband Tim of Dawsonville; great-nieces, Canaan and Shiloh Sweatman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Mae Bagwell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Stanley and June Bagwell, Steven Bagwell, Stacey and Christie Bagwell; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 at New Harmony Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Purcell and Danny Orr officiating.

Interment followed in New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
