R.C. "Lenwood" Burruss, 88, of Forsyth County, died Oct. 14, 2011.

He was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

Lenwood was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy.

His parents, Luke and Idella Burruss; brothers and sisters, Hubert (Ola) Burruss, Eula (Jim) Corn, Wilford (Zinnie) Burruss and first wife (Willie Mae), Winford (Janie) Burruss and first wife (Byrd), Chesley (Eula) Burruss, Robert Lee Burruss (infant), Bunie (Coy) Gilleland, Abi (Henry) Carruth, Ray (Lucille) Burruss, Alva Jay (Kathleen) Burruss, Dillard (Mildred) Burruss, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jean Burruss; children, Tommy (Joyce) Burruss, Deborah (Phil) Smith, Sherry (Phil) Sanders; grandchildren, Philecia (Sam) Shanks, Arthur Smith, Ash (Becky) Smith, Luke (Dana) Burruss, Leane (Matt) Sorrell, Vanessa (John) Bierman, Dede Sanders; 16 great0 grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 16 in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with the Revs. John Lummus and Rubin Smith and Dr. Lester Cooper officiating. Interment followed in Coal Mountain Cemetery.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
