Raymond L. DeLong, 75, of Dahlonega, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009.

A native of Fulton County, he had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 23 years, having moved from Cumming.

Mr. DeLong retired from General Motors after which he worked in construction.

He was a U.S. Marine veteran and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley DeLong of Dahlonega; children, Allison DeLong and Preston Darlig of Oceanside, Calif., Kimberly and Tim Kazmier of Knoxville, Tenn., Robin and Jill DeLong of Dahlonega; stepchildren, Richard and Nancy Polk of Lawrenceville, Danny and Jessica Singletary of Buford; brother, Jim DeLong of Gainesville; 10 grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Edward Cagle officiating.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
