Randal Andrew Ackerman Jr., 31, died Sept. 24, 2013.

Andrew was born Jan. 25, 1982, in Cumming.

He attended South Forsyth High School and then joined the United States Army.

He was a helicopter power plant technician. He served two tours of duty in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He served his country for 10 years, and received an honorable discharge Jan. 25, 2013.

Andrew was the son of the late Randal Andrew Ackerman.

Survivors include his mother, Molly L. Ackerman; sister, Anne Ackerman Partamian; brother-in-law, James Partamian; niece, Penelope Partamian; nephew, Jack Partamian; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 3 at St. Columba's Episcopal Church, 939 James Burgess Road, Suwanee, GA 30024 with the Rev. Father Tripp Norris as celebrant. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 2 at Ingram Funeral Home.
