Ralph H. Currie Jr., 81, of Dawsonville, died Dec. 4, 2013 in New York City.
Born July 3, 1932 in St. Paul's, N.C., to the late Ralph and Edith Currie, he had lived in Dawson County for the past six years, having moved from Dunwoody.
Mr. Currie formerly owned Ralph Currie Carpets in the Atlanta area and was actively involved in promoting business and tourism in Costa Rica. Ralph was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville.
His daughter, Connie and sister, Doris, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Dean Currie of Dawsonville; children, Steve Currie of Conyers, Brenda Currie of Gainesville, April Currie, Heather Currie, both of Atlanta, Joan Currie of North Carolina; grandchildren, Katie and Charlie; great-grandchildren, Grace and Josh; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 11 at the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville with the remains placed in state at 1 p.m. The Dr. Jim Gaines will officiate.
Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
