Preston T. Sanders, 74, of Dawsonville died Feb. 15, 2014.

Born June 11, 1939 in Atlanta, Ga to the late Roy and Lucille Sanders, he lived a number of years in Forsyth County before moving to Dawson County 25 years ago.

Preston was employed by the Dawson County School System and retired after 20 years of service. He was a loving man with an outgoing personality who never met a stranger. He was a member of Juno Baptist Church.

His wives Connie Sanders and Yvonne Thurmond-Sanders, sister Alice Sanders and brother R.L. Sanders preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Mildred Evans Sanders of Dawsonville; daughters and sons in law, Wendy and Chris Honea of Dawsonville, Wanda and Donnie Fields of Tennessee; grandchildren, Amberly Scott, C.C. Newman, Donnie Fields, Jr., Chris Smith; sister, Laura Martin of Otto, N.C., sister in law, Frances Sanders of Cumming; stepchildren, Gary Smith, Mitchell Evans, Jeff Evans, Debbie Nahlik, Wanda Hutcheson, Jerry Thurmond and and Judy Harris.

Funeral services were held Feb. 18 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tommy Weldy and the Rev. Mitchell Evans officiated. Interment followed in Sawnee View Gardens.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
