Peggy Joyce "Betty" Hicks, 72, of Gainesville, died Nov. 24, 2009.

Born in Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mattie Angel.

Her son, Jerril Hicks, also preceded her in death.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be missed by those who loved her.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 55 years, Fred Hicks of Gainesville; daughter, Brenda (Mickey) Sheffield of Cumming; sister, "Neaver" Blackwell of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Missy Stanley, Heath, Luke and Adam Hicks; nine great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Carl "Bud" Kendrix officiating.

Interment followed at Big Creek Cemetery in Alpharetta.

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
