Paul J. Sheehy, 75, of Dawsonville, died April 6, 2017.

Born Aug. 23, 1941 in Independence, Mo., to the late Almer and Vivian Sheehy, he had lived in Dawson County for more than 20 years, having moved from Cobb County.

Mr. Sheehy retired as a pilot for Delta Airlines with 28 years of service.

He served in the U.S. Air Force more than 12 years, where he flew 100 missions in Vietnam.

Paul enjoyed running, snow skiing, golf and volunteering in various ESL programs.

He was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church choir.

His brother, Rick Sheehy, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Mary Ann Cox Sheehy of Dawsonville; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Sheehy of Gainesville, Karen and Alex Pastos of Gainesville, Fla., Carolyn and Mattison Barnes of Cumming, Anna and Gerard Sample of Cave Creek, Ariz.; grandchildren, Gus Pastos, Owen Pastos, Bo Barnes, Noah Barnes, John Barnes, Luke Sample, Mary Alexa Sample; brother and sister-in-law, David and Ingrid Sheehy of St. Lois, Mo.; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. April 11 at Grace Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Jordan officiating. Interment followed at 1 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to Grace Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 201, Dawsonville, GA 30534 or to the Good Shepherd Clinic of Dawson County, 200 Dawson Commons Circle, Suite 220, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
