Olleen Williams, 90, recently of Dahlonega, died Dec. 19, 2010.

 

Ms. Williams was born in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late Samuel and Ollun Williams.

 

Her brother, Martin Williams, preceded her in death.

 

She was raised in Alabama and lived most of her life in Atlanta.

 

Olleen was educated in the Birmingham public schools, attended the University of Georgia, where she received a BFA and MFA degree.

 

Ms. Williams began her career at Murray State University in Murray, Ky.

 

She was the first art education consultant for the Georgia Department of Education.

 

Ms. Williams taught for The University of the Seven Seas and circumnavigated the world twice.

 

She was at Kennesaw State University when she retired.

 

One of her sculptures is part of the permanent collection of the Georgia Museum of Art.

 

Survivors include her siblings, Noel Williams (Virginia) of Attalla, Ala., Naomi Lewis (Bill) of Talladega, Ala., Ellen Wheat (Virgil) of Fayetteville, Ala., Zoe Putnam of Dawsonville; 16 nieces and nephews; various other relatives also survive.

 

A private family memorial will be held in Alabama.

 

Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega was in charge of the arrangements.
