Nolan Haygood

Nolan Haygood, 76, of Dawsonville, died Oct. 6, 2016.

Mr. Haygood was born Nov. 28, 1939, to the late Ralph and Ruby Haygood.

Previously of Cobb County and Roswell, he had been a resident of Dawson County since 1978.

He was a member of Juno Baptist Church and worked most of his life as a carpenter and farmer. A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he received great enjoyment from his birds, flowers, wood-working and watching westerns.

His sister, Annie Mae Haygood; and brothers, James Haygood and Laverne Haygood, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carolyn L. Haygood of Dawsonville; children, Shane and Diane Haygood, Rachelle and Tom Thurmond, all of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Clint and Tabitha Goode, Briana and Zack Blair, Tyler and Courtney Thurmond, Chad and Jamie Hogan, Chris and Amy Green; great-grandchildren, Dylan Green, Brayden Green, Cadence Goode, Jasie Hogan; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Rupert Cartwright of Dawsonville; brothers and sister-in-law, Donald and Anne Haygood of Clio, Ala., Charles Haygood of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 8 at Juno Baptist Church with the Revs. Brody Hughes and Dennis Bottoms officiating.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
