Nickey Hoyt Lance, 50, of Cumming, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008.

  

Mr. Lance lived all of his life in Dawson and Forsyth counties.

  

For many years, he worked as a trim carpenter and also as an arts and crafts promoter in the southeastern United States.

  

An accomplished landscape artist, his work had won him numerous awards.

  

He was a U.S. Army veteran, was of the Mormon faith and was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Elda Lance; brother, Jeff Lance; sister, Gail Lance.

  

Survivors include his wife, Ivana Lance of Cumming; children, Brooke and Trent Cook of Dawsonville, Nicholas Lance of Orlando, Fla.; sisters, Ellen Lance of Dahlonega, Torina Walls of Dawsonville, Wanda Britt of Winder; brothers, Roy "Jeep" Lance of Dahlonega, Tim Lance of Cumming; grandson, Cody Cook; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Ray Martin officiating.

  

Interment followed in the Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
