Nellie M. "Nell" Cox, 89, of Dawsonville, died Nov. 8, 2011.

Born July 16, 1922, to the late Gordon and Mae Moss, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and member of Crossroads Baptist Church.

She found the utmost joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren and her greatest gift was the love she poured out to her family, making them her focus and delight in every way.

Her husband of 55 years, Wayne M. Cox; sisters, Aline Taffar, Helen Pirkle; brothers, James Moss, Gordon B. Moss Jr.; and sons-in-law, Jake Mullinax and Herbert Roper, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Joe Lane and Judy Cox, Douglas and Jane Cox, Greg and Kaye Cox, Anita and Andrew Bearden, all of Dawsonville, Joyce and Hugh Smith, Deanna Mullinax, Judy and Lamar Roper, Sara Roper, Fran and Ralph Gravitt, all of Cumming; sister, Betty Cain of Gainesville; sisters-in-law, Thelma Cox of Gainesville, Pat Cox of Macon; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph Hope of Gainesville, Edward and Joyce Cox of Dawsonville; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Gerald Blackburn, Dennis Bottoms, Monroe Gunter and Brodie Hughes officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 100 Lumpkin Campground Road South, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
