Neil Brian Nix, 76, of Dawsonville, died May 28, 2012.

Born July 14, 1935, in College Park to the late Lanice and Mattie Nix, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 16 years, having moved from Stone Mountain.

Neil was vice president of the Piping & Equipment Company in Lithonia.

Mr. Nix was an avid golfer who also enjoyed traveling, watching the Atlanta Braves, Falcons and Georgia Tech football.

Devoted to his family, he loved spending time with his three grandchildren and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville.

A sister, Ann Smallwood and brothers, Bob Nix, Clyde Nix and Richard Nix, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jan Nix of Dawsonville; children, Laura and Robert VanLeuven, Brian and Jessica Nix, both of Cumming; grandchildren, Mackenzie VanLeuven, Evan Nix, Jackson Nix; sister and brother-in-law, Madeline and Larry Lester of West Palm Beach, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Marge Nix of Dacula, Riley and Annette Nix of Stone Mountain; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. May 31 at the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville with the Rev. Jim Gaines officiating. Interment followed in Sawnee View Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville, P.O. Box 1358, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
