M.L. Shorty Hamby

M.L. "Shorty" Hamby, 88, of Cumming, died Aug. 3, 2016.

Shorty founded, and has owned and operated Hamby's Garage since 1945.

He was a deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Shorty was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae Bolton Hamby; and his great-grandson, Ryder Hamby.

Survivors include his children, Clendon and Betty Hamby, Tommy and Delores Hamby, Linda and Greg Wallis, Terry Joe and Vickie Hamby; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty Ann Glover, Bob and Sarah Cloud, all of Cumming; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; caregivers, Deana Lingerfelt, Sue Bogart, Melissa Tate; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 6 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Craig Richard, Garry English, Tim Hamby, Toby Hamby and Gerald Blackburn officiating. Interment followed at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
