Mildred Darnell Lowe, 82, of Hampton, died Feb. 5, 2017.

Born Sept. 4, 1934 to the late Loland and Ethel Darnell, she had been a resident of Hampton for the past 32 years. In the 1960s Mildred owned and operated a beauty shop in Dawsonville and continued her career after she left Dawson County. A member of Sweetwater Baptist Church, she was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Her husband, Clarence Lowe, and a sister, Myrtis Ray, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Lowe of Hampton; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Jennifer Lowe of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Lauren Swords, Amber and Jacob Popphan, Austin Lowe, Colin Smith; sisters, Louise Kent, Gladys Bennett, Mamie Reeves, all of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 8 at Sweetwater Baptist Church with the Revs. Ken Magness and Chris Magness officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
