Melody Looper Collins, 65, of Dawsonville, died April 23, 2017.

Born Aug. 27, 1951, Melody was a resident of Dawsonville for most of her life. She worked for many years at Bell South until her retirement, which she enjoyed to the fullest. She loved animals, but above all she loved her husband and her family.

She was a member of Dawsonville Baptist Church.

Her father, Max Looper; brother, Randy Looper; and brother-in-law, Mark Haselton, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy "Ruff" Collins of Dawsonville; son, Dustin McElroy of Alpharetta; mother, Virginia Looper Taylor of Alpharetta; sisters, Vicki Looper of Cumming, Pam Haselton of Alpharetta; brother, Kevin and Lisa Taylor of Cumming; niece, Jennifer and Eugene Burt and their children, Andrew and Natalie, all of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. April 26 in the chapel of Bearden Funeral Home with the Rev. Corey Gilleland officiating. Interment will follow in the Dawsonville City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service April 26.
